AS Nigeria celebrated Democracy Day yesterday, Secretary, ANPP
National Rebuilding and Inter-party Contact Committee, Dr. George
Moghalu, said opposition parties in the country have played a prominent
role to sustain the nation’s democratic experiment since May 29, 1999.
Moghalu said in an interview that opposition parties had
done well in checkmating the party in government but added that a lot
more needed to be done by the opposition parties in this regard.
He said: "In looking at the performance of the opposition parties, we
must also look at the challenges. Like I have said time and time again,
we are in a system where government has become the only business which
has brought about the total collapse of the private sector."
