Jonathan, Tukur held all-night meeting with pro-Jang PDP govs

 
President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday night continued consultations aimed at finding solution to the ongoing crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It was learnt that Mr. Jonathan met with governors loyal to him and who are members of the Jonah Jang faction of the Nigeria Governors Forum.

Journalists were barred from the meeting which commenced at 9:15 p.m. at the conference room of the First Lady’s residence at the State House, Abuja.

Mr. Jonathan had been scheduled to meet with all PDP governors including those who had defected to the new PDP; but had rescheduled the meeting for a later date.

In attendance at Tuesday night’s meeting were Political Adviser to President, Ahmed Gulak; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim; PDP National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur; and the newly elected Deputy National Chairman, Uche Secondus.

Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan; Kaduna Governor, Mukhtar Yero; Benue Governor, Gabriel Suswam; Abia Governor, Theodore Orji; Cross River Governor, Liyel Imoke; Bayelsa Governor, Seriake Dickson; Akwa Ibom Governor, Godswill Akpabio; Gombe Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo; Kogi, Idris Wada; Bauchi, Isa Yuguda were also in attendance.

The PDP has split into two factions since Saturday with a separate faction led by Abubakar Baraje having the support of seven governors, about 22 senators and several members of the House of Representatives. The faction has asked a Lagos Court to dissolve the Bamanga Tukur faction of the party.
