Keita sworn in as new Malian president

 

Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has been formally sworn in by the Supreme Court as Mali’s new President on Wednesday..

Keita’s inauguration began with a silent hand-over procedure with interim President Dioncounda Traore, followed by a ceremony observed by selected Malian institutions at the international conference centre in the capital, Bamako.

A public inauguration ceremony with foreign dignitaries is planned for later in the month.
