The
leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has bowed to pressure from
northern governors on the composition of its committee on the mini
convention as it named two Muslims as officers of the committee.
Those named were the former Ambassador to the United States, Alhaji
Aminu Wali and the former acting National Secretary of the party, Dr.
Musa Babayo as deputy chairman and deputy secretary of the Special
National Convention of the party headed by Prof. Jerry Gana
respectively.
It was gathered that the committee has also named six members of
members of the National Working Committee as members of the convention
committee but their names were yet to be disclosed as at press time.
The northern governors had on Thursday protested the non inclusion of Muslims as members of the leadership of the committee.
