STF rescued 8 kidnapped victims in Jos

 The Special Task Force (STF) on Jos crises code named ‘operation safe haven’ has stormed a den of kidnappers in Jos, the Plateau state capital to rescued eight  victims held captive by the gang of kidnappers.
The gang of kidnappers were already negotiating a deal with families of the victims when men of the STF stormed their hideout in JOS North local government of the state.

Residents of JOS, the plateau state capital has been living in tension in recent times with rumors going round the city that some gang of kidnappers are lucking around with list of personalities to be kidnapped.
The rumor has sent panic down the spine of top politicians and influential business men and women in the city. The rumors make citizens to suspect one another creating fears every where.
But residence heave a sigh of relief yesterday when the STF announced it has uncovered one of the syndicate and raided their hideout right within the city of Jos.
In a statement signed by the media officer of the STF Captain Salisu Mustapha and made available to newsmen in JOS yesterday indicated that the STF has made appreciable discovery of the gang through intelligence gathering.
According to the statement, “The provision of timely information  to security agencies by the civil populace, the STF wishes to inform citizens of plateau state that it has carried a raid operation on kidnappers with remarkable success.
“On the 12th of July, 2013, at about 12pm, the STF anti-kidnapping squad carried out a raid operation at Chiwarna Hotel located at Zinaria layout of JOS north local government of Plateau state and rescued 8 victims who were kidnapped by a group of criminals.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were kidnapped at various locations of the metropolis and locked up in one of the hotel rooms
“The suspected kidnappers contacted families of the victims and requested them to pay various sums of money as ransom for their release”
Capt Mustapha said, “Meanwhile, ring leader of the gang, one member of the gang and manager of the hotel have been arrested and are been investigated”
The STF expressed deep appreciation to citizens of the state for providing information to the troop which led to the success of recorded by the troops. It also enjoins the general public not to hesitate to contact the STF through telephone lines made available to them by the STF as soon as they suspect any movement around them.
The STF promised to make the state a safe haven for citizens particularly the month of Ramadan peaceful for citizens.
