Fatai Rolling Dollar buried, mourned by Senate President

Late highlife maestro, Fatai Rolling Dollar, who died on Wednesday has been buried. The burial on Thursday started with a procession of mourners who trooped to his Oko-Oba residence at Millennium Estate, Lagos for the lying-in-state.

His immediate family, colleagues and several dignitaries attended the burial  which was conducted according to Muslim rites. His remains was finally moved from  to his uncompleted property situated at Number 4, Unity Street, Maya Village, Ikorodu where he was  buried.

Hon Oloruntoba Oke, Chairman of Ifako Ijaiye Local Government, Admiral Dele Abiodun, former PMAN president, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey, Stella Monye and a representative of Lagos State Governor were among the personalities present at the burial.

Rather than wailing, there were more sober faces, since according to his eldest daughter, Jumoke Badmus, the  late legendary musician had urged his family not cry shortly before his demise.

The 85 year-old  late music maestro, very famous for his evergreen classic, Won Kere Si Number Wa, is survived by  sixteen children and wives.

 Mark mourns Rolling Dollar

President of the Senate, David Mark, on Thursday condoled with the family highlife maestro, Pa Fatai Olayiwola Olagunju Fatai aka “Rolling Dollar” over his death. Fatai passed away at 85.

Specifically, the Senate President in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, in Abuja, said the deceased was a jolly good fellow who did not only entertained but brought joy to Nigerian homes and families.

He paid glowing tributes to the musician for his mastery, dexterity and sense of humour while plying his trade and pointed out that even in his last days, Rolling Dollar never relented in his passion for music.
